PREPARING FOR EMERGENCIES
Listed below are educational videos found on YouTube, instructing in first aid techniques and multiple emergency situations. YouTube is a wealth of information and these videos are a small sampling of what is available for you to watch, learn and familiarize yourself with.
Watch the videos multiple times if needed to gain some comfort level, if you have no medical background. Please do not be intimidated with some medical terminology used. One picture is worth a thousand words and videos can teach a great deal without needing to understand each medical term. There are often multiple videos on the topic you are watching that you might glean even more from. Please give suggestions to Medical First Responders if you might want a video added to the list.
You also need to understand that in an emergency situation, the recommendation will almost always be to transport to a hospital for further care and monitoring. Use your best judgement.
One important point concerning the use of tourniquets in major bleeding emergencies: We do not recommend the use of tourniquets, but understand that they are coming back into greater use. There are videos that cover this and we will leave this to your discretion to search them out. Concerning simple basic first aid, there are so many videos covering this, that we recommend you check out for yourself what you feel you need.
